Growing up in a community where girls weren’t always encouraged to venture outside, stepping into the world of interior design and entrepreneurship was a big leap for me.
After living and working in Dubai for almost 16 years, my family and I built a beautiful home in my hometown, Kandy, Sri Lanka.
But as an interior designer, I quickly realized how challenging it was to source quality design materials locally. There was a noticeable gap in the market, especially when it came to accessible, high-quality interior products.
Determined to make a difference, I opened The HouZe of Treasure, in a small space beneath a cozy coffee shop in Kandy. I poured my heart into it and continued creating beautiful spaces that reflected my clients unique touch and feel.
The turning point that changed my life
Over time, my hard work paid off, and I was able to expand into a larger, more equipped showroom.
But as we grew, transportation and supply challenges made it difficult to serve clients in Kandy’s outskirts, so I relocated to Colombo, where I continued to build my skills and refine my vision.
As Sri Lanka went through turbulent times, like many other businesses, mine was affected. Yet, my passion for interior design remained strong.
